The DILG R6 in partnership with the Office of Project Development Services (OPDS) held a 5-day workshop aimed to improve the functionality of the RBIS to the six (6) PLGUs of the Region on August 5-9, 2019 at Seda Hotel, Atria, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Roads and Bridges Information System (RBIS) is a web-based database system initially developed by the DFAT- Australian Aid through the Provincial Road Management Facility (PRMF), and managed by the DILG through the OPDS and the Information Systems and Technology Management Services (ISTMS). It is intended to support the Department in providing relevant and timely information for policy formulation, budget allocation, monitoring and reporting.
Under the Department’s CMGP Program, one of the targets is to collect a standardized data attributes of Provincial roads, including Geographic Information System (GIS) and spatial information data envisioned to support PLGUs in its planning and priority setting for road improvements and maintenance.

The activity, dubbed as “Follow-Through Workshop on the Roads and Bridges Information System (RBIS) with the GIS-Mapping” focused on the mapping capabilities and security features that would increase reliability and operability of the system, where LGUs can effectively monitor and evaluate their road network and can make decisions interactively with the help of visualized data. The training also became a venue to the RBIS Focal Persons in using their upgraded mapping tool in validating the LGU’s road data prior to uploading in system.
Participants of the activity are personnel from the respective provincial engineering and provincial planning and development offices as well as DILG regional and provincial personnel.
