Patrol 117 is the national and official emergency hotline number of the Philippines. It aims to establish an easy recall number that can be accessed by anyone, anytime, anywhere in the Philippines in cases of emergencies, as well as to monitor the efficiency of its responders’ network. It however, does not compete with other locally established emergency numbers or with local responders, but complements their local operations.   “117″ is not a responder, but a Call Center that processes received calls and relays emergency situations to the appropriate responders. One may call Patrol 117 during emergencies and life threatening situations that require immediate response (ex: crime incidents, fire incidents, medical assistance, rescue operations), public safety concerns, to report abusive officials and law enforcers, illegal activities, and crimes that do not require immediate assistance. Patrol 117 operates nationwide.  Apart from easy access, it has a monitoring mechanism that assures the public that all cases relayed through “117″ are duly responded to and acted upon.  In other countries, callers are charged with fees for medical assistance and other services.  With “117″, the services of the government responders are for free.

Role of DILG:

Facilitates if Caller reports an emergency to “117″   thru the Dispatcher who processes the call and relays the incident to the appropriate responder(s) and monitors the responders’ action on the calls relayed.

HOW TO CALL 117?

Just dial 117 in any PLDT landline, Bayan landline and Bayan wireless landline.  Cellular phones, Globe landline and other wireless landline can access 117 by calling (033) 300-0544, (033) 300-0652 or (033) 300-0653.

As mandated by DILG Circular No. 2001-17 dated July 24, 2001, DILG PRAISE is designed to encourage creativity, innovativeness, efficiency, integrity and productivity in the public service by recognizing and rewarding officials and employees, individually or in groups, for their suggestions, inventions, superior accomplishments and other personal efforts which contribute to the efficiency, economy or other improvements in government operations, or for other extraordinary acts or services in the public interest. It adheres to the principle of providing incentives and awards based on performance, innovative ideas and exemplary behavior that likewise give emphasis on the timeliness of giving award or recognition.

In view hereof, in 2003, DILG Region VI conceived its own awards system named Performance Incentive for Service And Novelty or also known as “PISAN.” PISAN is an Ilonggo word which means industriousness. For 5 years of its implementation it has produced national finalists and 4 national winners on DANGAL NG BAYAN and PAG-ASA awards, respectively which marked a milestone not only for Region VI, but for the Department.
